After losing wide receiver Cody White to the Las Vegas Raiders and defensive end Jared Ivey to the Atlanta Falcons during rosters cuts, another Seattle Seahawks veteran is set to depart, but this time to a division rival.
Linebacker Jamie Sheriff is joining the Los Angeles Rams practice squad, ESPN’s Brady Henderson reported on Tuesday. For the third consecutive year, he missed out on the initial 53-man roster and was not named to Seattle’s initial practice squad.
Despite a crowded linebacker room, Seattle not retaining him at least on the practice squad was unexpected after Sheriff put together another strong preseason performance, where he recorded three solo tackles and half a sack against the Tennessee Titans on August 23.
After going undrafted out of South Alabama in 2024, Sheriff signed with Seattle’s practice squad but was waived and claimed by the Carolina Panthers in September. He was released shortly after and rejoined the Seahawks practice squad, where he’s spent the majority of his time since.
The veteran linebacker was recalled to the active roster following injuries to fellow linebackers Ernest Jones IV as well as Tyrice Knight, and appeared in the Seattle’s Week 12 game against the Titans, logging a solo tackle.
