CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Big Z is back.
Two weeks ago, Illini fans were informed that big man Zvonimir Ivisic wasn’t working out due to a hand injury he suffered back home.
“Z hurt his hand while he was home in Croatia, we’ll reexamine that later in the week,” Underwood told WCIA’s Glenn Kinley September 10th. “He’s not working out right now, so we’ll see what the extent of that is.”
Luckily though, the injury doesn’t seem to be too serious. Zvonimir posted a picture of himself floating above the rim in practice
on his Instagram story Tuesday morning, so Illini fans at least know that he’s back in practice to some extent.
He’s still wearing a wrap on his wrist, but at least it’s not a brace—which would indicate something more severe. Big Z will play a big role in his second year as an Illini while rotating minutes with his twin brother Tomislav. Z recorded a 12.6% block rate last season, which ranked fourth in the nation.
