The Blazer’s Edge Best Things Ever contest rolls onward today. We’re nearing the end of the second round, but before we get there, we have some massive matchups to decide.
For those who missed the proceedings, to generate extra conversation during the dog days of NBA summer, we’re pitting 64 good things in life against each other, somewhat randomly arranged and nonsensically, in a March Madness Style bracket. Each day features two posts, each with a choice between two things. You think about the pairing,
then vote for one of the two in the comments section. At the end of it all, we’ll have a Best Thing Ever for 2026!
This matchup is going to be hellacious for the nerdy among us. Two solid first-round winners are squaring off against each other: The Hubble Telescope and Lego.
Once feared a boondoggle, the Hubble Telescope has advanced scientific knowledge in professional spheres and given the general public amazing vistas of star stuff nobody suspected even existed. Point it at a dark patch of sky, leave it for a bit, and BOOM! Six billion galaxies appear. If your jaw hasn’t dropped at the colorized images this amazing instrument has sent back to earth, you’re not even living.
If you don’t like thinking of the awesome vastness of space, how about playing with some of the small building blocks? Lego has been a staple for kids since the 1950’s. Baby Boomers grew up constructing their own architectural wonders, vehicles, and spaceships. As the 2000’s commenced, the company evolved into model-like kits that took the medium to new levels. Whether you’re homebrewing or building the latest Marvel super-fortress, it’s always a good time with this classic toy kit.
