Really, it was obviously always going to happen. Once it had become clear that Bayern Munich had agreed to let Jérôme Boateng into the training grounds again and rumors swirled of a potential coaching job on the horizon, Bayern’s ultras were always going protest this decision.
That they did in full force during the league leader’s 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, holding up multiple banners that clearly
Translations were captured by @iMiaSanMia:
‘Whoever gives the perpetrator space bears his guilt — Boateng, pi*s off!’
‘No place for character pigs in our club. No more place for Boateng’
‘No stage/platform for perpetrators. Pi*s off Boateng!’
Multiple officials were asked about these protests after the match and CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen had this to say: “Vincent and Jérôme know each other from old times [at Hamburger SV]. We simply agreed that Jérôme would now watch and observe some training sessions,”he explained, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “And that’s it. It’s a complicated case. I think every person deserves rehabilitation. Furthermore, we should take a look at the verdict in its entirety.”
Clearly, Bayern are not looking to reverse their decision on Boateng at the moment.
Bayern Munich got off to a rousing start during its 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the latest edition of Der Klassiker, but it was a nervy ending for the Bavarians.
