The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a bad, banged up football team. They were 6-2 at the midway point last season, having beaten the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle during that stretch. Over their last 13 games they are a rancid 2-11, including 0-4 to start the 2026 season. They’re done. Finished. Cooked. It’s over for them.
Field Gulls deputy editor John P. Gilbert will undoubtedly have his undivided attention on former Kansas star Jalon Daniels, the undrafted rookie who’s once again tasked with starting in place
of the injured Baker Mayfield for the Bucs. The Dallas Cowboys don’t have a very good defense, but their offense is elite, Dak Prescott is playing some of his best football to date, and Ceedee Lamb just humiliated the Houston Texans to the point where DeMeco Ryans has resumed play-calling duties on defense.
Anyway, Bucs at Cowboys isn’t competitive on paper. Dallas may be 2-2 right now but could easily be one of the toughest remaining matchups for the Seahawks toward the back-end of the season, and it’ll be interesting to see if Brian Schottenheimer’s guys can take care of an overmatched opponent.
Well, I say interesting. It’s not an interesting game on paper. But I have to build intrigue.
