The Red-Blue Showcase is annually one of the biggest recruiting weekends of the year for the Arizona men’s basketball program.
This year, Tommy Lloyd and the UA coaching staff are expected to host three of their top targets from the 2027 recruiting class.
Comb guard Adan Diggs and big men Darius Wabbington and Kamsi Awaka are scheduled to take official visits this weekend. Eric Bossi of 247Sports confirmed the trio’s visits in an article Friday ($).
Diggs, a 6-foot-4 guard out of Millennium High School
in Goodyear, is the highest rated of the bunch, ranking as the No. 6 overall player and the No. 1 combo guard, per 247Sports. Diggs also has official visits scheduled to Arkansas and Kentucky.
Arizona is considered to be in good position to land Diggs, according to Bossi.
Diggs would continue a line of top-ranked combo guards to play for Lloyd. Over the last four years, Lloyd has brought in Caleb Love, Brayden Burries and Caleb Holt. Like Diggs, Burries and Holt were top-10 prospects coming out of high school.
Wabbington is another in-state prospect who is making the trek down the I-10. The 6-foot-11 center out of Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix is ranked the No. 12 player and No. 2 center, per 247Sports. Wabbington has already taken visits to Indiana and Illinois and still has Texas to go.
Bossi likes Arizona’s chances to land Wabbington, and the expectation is a decision will be made soon.
Then there’s Kamsi Awaka, the younger brother of Tobe Awaka. Both brothers are expected to be present Saturday.
Kamsi Awaka is ranked No. 41 in the class including the No. 6 center, per 247. The 6-foo-10 big man out of Blair Academy in New Jersey carries a similar bruising physique as his older brother.
The expectation is Arizona should come away with two if not all three of the visiting recruits. Such a haul would give Lloyd and his staff another top-five recruiting class.
Arizona currently has no commitments for the 2027 class.
