Missouri continued its fall baseball campaign this past weekend at Taylor Stadium. After playing in a pair of games, facing off against Central Methodist and traveling down to Iowa City to face off against the
Hawkeyes, the Tigers renewed their yearly tradition of a Fall World Series at Taylor Stadium.
This year, the titled Bronze Buffalo Series, featured Team Buffaloed and Los Tigres. The series was officially scheduled as three separate games, but within those three games, two individual mini games were played apiece. The score changed a total of four times on the first day as well and once on the second day of play also.
Takeaways from Game 1
- Luke Sullivan started for Los Tigres and showed flashes of good stuff early, but command was an issue. Hit a batter, walked a few, and gave up some runs before getting pulled. His fastball had life, but he’ll need more fconsistency locating it.
- Keyler Gonzalez followed and worked through some control problems of his own. Settled in nicely near the end of his outing and started missing bats with his off-speed pitches.
- Pierre Seals had a huge day at the plate. Ripped a triple down the first base line early, then ended the game with a walk-off hit. Found barrels all afternoon and brought great energy.
- Jamal George came through with a clutch RBI single, showing solid situational hitting.
- Tyler Macon was all over the field — made a diving play defensively, moved well on the bases, and played with clear confidence.
- Donovan Jordan and Isaiah Frost both homered to left, showcasing the team’s power potential. Kaden Peer added another bomb to right-center, giving the crowd plenty to cheer about.
- Defensive play tightened up late after some early miscues. Macon and Seals both made key stops to prevent extra bases.
- Overall, offense carried the day with loud contact and clutch moments. Seals looked like one of the most complete players on the field, and the bats showed they could do damage in bunches even as the pitching staff worked on control.
Takeaways from Game 2
- Brady Kehlenbrink turned in one of the best performances of the fall, tossing three strong innings. Mixed speeds well, stayed composed under pressure, and used his breaking ball to get key strikeouts.
- Keegan Kohlhoff came in next, and while he battled command issues, his stuff was electric. Fastball had late run, and when he found the zone, hitters couldn’t square him up.
- Donovan Jordan stayed hot, starting the day with a sharp single and later blasting a home run just inside the foul pole. He’s showing legit middle-of-the-order power.
- Jase Woita homered again, making it back-to-back scrimmages with a long ball. His confidence and power stood out.
- Pierre Seals kept doing Pierre Seals things — reached base multiple times, swiped a bag, and played through a minor injury scare after getting tagged on a pickoff. Continues to be a reliable hitters and one of the best athletes on the field.
- Kam Durnin looked strong, hitting multiple balls hard and showing quick hands in the field.
- Eric Maisonet had a productive day at the plate and made several smart defensive plays.
- Keegan Knutson and Brock Daniels each delivered quality at-bats late, putting the ball in play and moving runners when needed.
- The defense looked tighter overall, though a few wild pitches and small mistakes gave Buffaloed a couple of chances.
What stood out
- Through two scrimmages, Mizzou’s lineup has shown depth and power potential with multiple players going yard.
- Pitching remains a work in progress but shows upside from last season — Kehlenbrink stood out as the clear highlight with his control and poise on the mound in jams, while the bats of Jordan and Woita kept the lineup dangerous. Seals continued to set the tone with his energy and consistency.
- Seals has arguably been the most consistent performer so far, impacting games with his bat, defense, and speed.
- Overall, the fall scrimmages showed flashes of what could be another dangerous offensive team this spring.
