If Didi Hamann is sure of one thing, it is that Julian Nagelsmann needs to be sacked.
“He seems to think he’s infallible. I would have at least expected him to say: ‘I’ll sleep on it and then I’ll talk to those in charge.’ For me, this isn’t even a question. We can’t continue with the national coach. I’ll be surprised if he ever sits on the national team bench again,” Hamann told Sky Germany. “He wasn’t at the Club World Cup last year, he wasn’t at the U-21 European Championship – he only went for
the final after significant public pressure – and he wasn’t at the Africa Cup of Nations either. That means he didn’t do his job conscientiously. He’s rarely at the stadium. He had two years to prepare the team. He didn’t do that. Therefore, he shouldn’t be given the chance to do so at the next tournament.”
Well, Bayern Munich fans are well aware that Nagelsmann does like his vacations.
In all seriousness, Hamann might have a point. Given the way that he approached putting the roster together, making his starting lineups, and handling his players, Nagelsmann did seem to be inclined to only do what he wanted and not what might have been better for the team.
