After last weekend’s debacle against Inter Milan at the San Siro, Roma takes center stage today as the host of 20th-place Pisa at the Stadio Olimpico, the league’s only Friday fixture in Round 32. While Roma remains mathematically alive in the chase for fourth place, thanks to that 5-2 loss to Inter Milan, the Giallorossi are mired in 6th place, four points behind Cesc Fabregas’s 4th-placed Como side.
However, there may be a silver lining for the capital club this weekend. While a victory won’t pull
the club back into fourth place, with Como (home vs. Inter) and Juventus (away vs. Atalanta) each facing challenging fixtures, Gasperini’s group could potentially find themselves only one point behind Como come Monday.
Not exactly what we imagined back in August, but we have no choice but to grasp at straws. But first, Roma has to handle Pisa.
