What is the story about?
In what is likely the final piece of the Guardians’ trade deadline puzzle, they have acquired left-handed hitting DH Nathaniel Lowe from the Cincinnati Reds.
Lowe has a 120 wRC+ for the year which includes a 137 wRC+ against RHP and a -52 wRC+ vs LHP. For his career, however, Lowe has a 103 wRC+ vs LHP (123 wRC+ vs RHP). I suspect he has been brought in to mostly platoon at DH with potentially Rhys Hoskins. Lowe is a rental like Foster Griffin.
Lowe is capable of putting a glove on his hand at first
base, but you don’t want him to do it very often.
