There is only game set for tonight with Iowa set to hit the road and face their dreaded rival Iowa State on FS1.
Iowa Hawkeyes at #4 Iowa State Cyclones
- Time/TV: 8:00 PM ET FS1
- Line: Iowa State -11.5
Iowa hits the road to face the fourth ranked Cyclones today. The Hawkeyes won their last game this weekend against a reeling Maryland, a much needed win after the Hawkeyes were blown out by Michigan State. Iowa’s 83 points against Maryland was an improvement after being held to 52 and 59 points in their two prior games.
Iowa State enters at 9-0 with double digit wins over Purdue, Creighton
and Syracuse, as well as a win over St. Johns. The Cyclones are outscoring their opponents by an average of 30 points per game so far through the first month of the season. Iowa State is shooting 54.9% from the field and 43.8% from three, with the Cyclones offense ranked sixth per KenPom. Their offensive prowess mixed with the second ranked defense puts them second in the KenPom rankings.
Iowa State has won three of the past four games against Iowa, including 10 of the past 11 games that have been played in Ames. Iowa State has been rolling offensively and their defense has been shutting down opponents all season. Iowa’s offense has struggled heavily when playing stronger opposition and their lone road game did not go well against the Spartans. Outside of Bennett Stirtz no player on Iowa’s roster is averaging more than 8.8 points per game.
With a stalling offense and a road trip to a city they haven’t played well in for the last two decades it’s going to be a tough task if Iowa wants to land an upset tonight. Unfortunately for Hawkeye fans that seems increasingly unlikely.
Pick: Iowa State
