Steve Maclin experienced the scariest moment of his career at TNA Sacrifice when he suffered head trauma during the main event world title bout. In the aftermath, word came out from Carlos Silva that Maclin was not diagnosed with a concussion. Mr. Mayhem was feeling okay, but he mostly remained quiet about the situation. Maclin broke his silence to thank Ace Steel for protecting him at Sacrifice.
Steel had a lengthy wrestling career of his own, however, he is more recognized mainstream as CM Punk’s
trainer. Steel currently works as a producer for TNA, and that’s the connection to Maclin.
Maclin commented on social media about the injury at Sacrifice. Ace Steel was the voice of reason for Maclin to realize that he couldn’t continue the match. Maclin thanked Steel for protecting him from himself.
TNA Sacrifice was one of the scariest moments of my career.
My first instinct was to keep going, push through, and finish the match. Because that’s just who I am, how Marines are hardwired.
But it only took one voice to protect me from myself. Ace looked at me, calm as ever, and said, “You’re done.”
No hesitation. No debate. I said “yes sir.”
Sometimes you need that coach, that dad voice, someone you have the upmost respect for, to make the call you won’t make yourself.
I got back in the ring today for the first time in 2 weeks under Ace’s supervision. I can’t thank you enough.
You might have dropped me but you CAN’T FU*KING KILL ME. #MACLIN
