In the closing moments of Kentucky basketball’s dominant 104–54 win over Tennessee Tech on Wednesday night, walk-on guard Walker Horn delivered one of the most memorable highlights of the season.
With 1:25 remaining and the Wildcats already firmly in control, head coach Mark Pope emptied the bench to give his reserves some well-earned minutes. That’s when Horn checked in, and seconds later, the crowd erupted.
With just 0.8 seconds left on the shot clock, Kam Williams inbounded the ball to Horn and
forced himself into an off-balance catch-and-shoot heave.
Horn released the shot as the buzzer sounded and absolutely drilled it.
The 3-pointer pushed Kentucky’s lead to 103–54, sending the bench into a frenzy and drawing one of the loudest reactions of the night inside Rupp Arena.
It was the kind of moment walk-ons dream about, and Horn made the most of it.
The scoring didn’t end there. Walk-on forward Zach Tow later added a free throw, finishing with one point.
With Tow’s basket, every single Wildcat who logged minutes scored at least once, a rare feat that highlighted both Kentucky’s depth and its efficiency on a night where everything clicked.
Kentucky controlled the game and improved to 5–2 on the season with the 50-point victory. Behind a balanced attack, strong defensive energy, and a feel-good finish from the walk-ons, the Wildcats looked every bit like a team settling into its identity under Pope.
For Horn and Tow, the night may have been just a few minutes of playing time, but it produced moments the team won’t soon forget.
