90’ – There will be nine minutes of time added on here, with Wolves now on a two-man advantage!
89’ – The madness continues. Grealish had been booked already, was lucky not to get another one, and then
sarcastically clapped at the referee after winning a foul.. and promptly got a second booking and has been sent off too. Total head loss from the Blues.
84’ – Wolves have all the momentum and the man advantage as well and they win a corner that the Blues can clear.
Beto had been dressed and ready to come on, but now it’ll be Nathan Patterson coming on for Armstrong. Beto will too for Barry. Another chance for Wolves but Mane’s shot is wild and nearly hits the corner flag. Tarkowski still in the ref’s ear about that red card.
80’ – Still no signs of a sub anywhere. Meanwhile VAR is looking at an incident where Keane apparently tugged Arokodare back by the hair and the ref is now on the pitchside monitor. The ref decides that was violent conduct and now Everton are down to ten men! Add that one to the list of incredible and weird reasons for an Everton red cards.
Moyes is apoplectic on the edge of his box, and Tom Kirk shows him the yellow card too.
77’ – Armstrong hacked down by Hwang who is booked. Everton waste that possession as Mane goes tearing down the field and Iroegbunam has to foul him and is also booked.
Freekick into the box, Tarky has to head out for a corner under pressure. Pickford brave, punches clear from his line.
75’ – Grealish slips in Mykolenko, and swing and a miss! Ball comes back and he fires a shot blocked for a corner. Corner into the box, but Sa fights and wins it.
73’ – Grealish gets away and finds Iroegbunam in the box, but once again he holds on to it too long and is dispossessed.
Now Iroegbunam intercepts a Wolves pass near his own box and can break, he finds Barry on the sideline, but his cross for Armstrong in the middle is wayward.
70’ – All to play for now.
69’ – Wow, Matheus Mane slices into the backline and then 1-on-1 finishes close to the post giving Pickford no chance. The Blues were beaten by two passes straight down the middle, Strand-Larsen gets the assist. It’s 1-1 now.
68’ – Striker Strand Larsen is on now, he’s a genuinely dangerous striker on for Krejci. An attacking change for Edwards, gives them another body in the box.
65’ – Starting to get a bit nervy here at Hill Dickinson. Immediately Grealish wins a freekick that is sent deep into the box, knocked around and then stabbed out for a corner.
More pressure in the box from that, and a Grealish shot is blocked, before he does fire one off wide of the near post.
63’ – Tchatchoua wins a corner on the Everton left. Ball into the box, Grealish with a fantastic blocked shot, and then now Joao Gomes drives into the Everton box and his mishit shot is gratefully collected by Pickford.
59’ – Now Everton counter, and Iroegbunam holds on to the ball for too long and a chance goes abegging.
56’ – Wolves break with pace, and Armstrong with a fantastic tackle to stop Andre. Wolves want a freekick but play continues, then Iroegbunam fouls his man. He picks up the ball eliciting a reaction from Mosquera who is then booked.
54’ – The visitors get the ball and set up an attack, Hwang’s flick is met by wild shot from Mane, looks like he caught someone in security in the stands.
Now the Blues step into a high press and force Wolves to try and play out, and Armstrong gets the interception. Very good from Everton this, not sitting back to defend a lead.
51’ – Wolves have collapsed into their defensive third as they let Everton have the ball. No way into the box for the Blues though. The South Stand is getting loud too right behind that goal.
46’ – Wolves get us started. They immediately push forward and win a throw-in on their right. Mosquera long throw in, ping-pongs around the area and then Krejci goes down theatrically as Tarky heads clear. Gets some medical attention for what looks like a swollen upper eye, and he gets a concussion check as well. Play resumes about three minutes later.
Halftime Thoughts – Everton the better team, and the players’ confidence and effort are both high, no doubt boosted by getting the reward of a goal that didn’t let them flag. Wolves aren’t a bad side though, and there’s still a whole half of football to go.
45+1’ – The minute of added time and is played without further incident, halftime. Everton lead Wolves from a smart finish by Keane for 1-0.
44’ – Wolves attack down the right, cross into the box is met by a Wolves player and the ball ricochets off a couple of players, including Tarky’s right shoulder. VAR confirms that.
Ooof, another mistake from Tarkowski. Giveaway near the middle and allows Hwang to run at the defence, but his shot slides wide and relief. Another mistake from Tarky, it has to be said.
42’ – Pickford deep ball into the box from the midfield, headed back into the box by JOB and Sa goes up for it, but Tarky also stands his ground and the goalie goes down heavily. Sa gets up and can’t stop mouthing off, and to the crowd’s delight the yellow card is brandished.
41’ – O’Brien and Barry turning on the style with the flicks down the sideline. Everton’s first attack from the right that I can recall today.
JOB long throw, headed on by Keane but a defender cleares before Tarky can pounce.
38’ – Armstrong winning over many Evertonians today with his effort. Got into it with Mosquera at the corner flag and giving the Wolves defence fits.
Wolves counter on the other side and it takes both Tarky and Keane to handle the burly Arokodare who has been throwing himself around.
35’ – More action as Everton push Wolves to do some defending with good crosses into the box. Sa forced to make a save, and Wolves eventually clear.
33’ – Both Everton wingers are working hard defensively too. Grealish tracks back to cover for Myko going wide, and then on the other side McNeil heads a cross well clear to stop an attack.
A round of applause going around for Evertonian Stephen Jones, a 33-year-old fan who sadly perished in a road accident last weekend, and a big cheer for him and his family too after.
30’ – Wolves chance. They get a man behind the backline who sets up Bueno to cut in with a shot, but JOB shoves him at the point of shooting and it’s off target.
29’ – Ireogbunam charges forward on the left and is fouled in line with the box. Garner inswinger this time, Keane rises highest and makes solid contact.. POST! Comes back off the far upright and Wolves clear, oooh.
27’ – Beautiful from young Harrison, takes on and beats two men in the middle to start off an attack. Grealish gets him the ball wide on the left, and with confidence coursing through him he puts in a low ball with the outside of his boot, catches everyone by surprise though and cleared.
25’ – Hwang wins a corner off O’Brien. Poor ball, low and Armstrong hoofs it away.
22’ – Shooting chances. McNeil from outside the box, blocked, played to Myko who tries one too, well wide of the post though.
Mosquera handles a pass from Grealish, and another freekick, similar to where the goal came from. McNeil deep again, cleared. Garner runs into space from Grealish, but can’t get the ball back into the box.
21’ – Armstrong playing cute triangles and almost gets into the box but for a bad touch. Wolves try to break but Garner with a professional foul ends that, lucky to not be booked.
16’ – Iroegbunam gets into space and draws the foul. Freekick from the edge of the attacking third, chance here. McNeil delivers deep, partly cleared, Iroegbunam driven shot and neatly diverted in by Keane!! Top corner from Everton’s finest finisher, and Everton lead 1-0!!
15’ – Armstrong looking very comfortable. Played a one-two with McNeil that was blocked off, and then spun his marker in the middle and drew the foul. Very composed on the ball.
10’ – Everton looking nervy here tonight.
Blues deal with a long throw and Grealish delivers for Iroegbunam to bomb down the left, but his delivery into the middle is poor.
8’ – Grealish lays off to Armstrong, chips a cross in, defender heads away and it comes to Iroegbunam, but his volley is wayward. First shot of any kind for the Blues.
6’ – Cushioned header back from Mykolenko to Pickford and Arokodare does come hustling in, could have been a problem.
4’ – Does look like a 4-2-3-1 still, with Armstrong in the #10 where he has been playing for Preston.
1’ – The Toffees get the game underway. Will be interesting to see where Armstrong plays and whether the Blues stick to the 4-2-3-1 formation.
Starting Lineups
Everton – Moyes keeps the backline intact, but Dibling goes to the bench and Armstrong at the #10.
Wolves – Same lineup as when they got their first win of the season
Match Preview
Everton play their second consecutive league game at home today, but will be looking for a vastly different result to the hiding they received at the hands of Brentford over the weekend. The Toffees will be welcoming the Premier League’s bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers, who picked up their first win of the league campaign over the weekend.
David Moyes will not have any players back from the long injury list or AFCON, but should look to rejig his starting lineup given how some starters from Sunday made little to no impact on the pitch.
For Wolves, Rob Edwards is taking it one game at a time and we can expect the visitors to employ much of the same tactics that Tottenham, Newcastle and Brentford employed in their big wins at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium, starting with focus on getting setpieces into the six-yard box.

Last Meeting
The two sides have already played twice this season, both times at Molyneux. The Blues won the league game 3-2 with Beto, Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall getting the goals, but then a heavily-rotated side faltered 2-0 to the same opponent barely a month later in the League Cup.
