The Kentucky Wildcats will travel to the Plains to take on the Auburn Tigers on Saturday night. Game time is set for 8:30 PM ET on ESPN. The Cats are 3.5-point underdogs.
Mark Pope’s squad is now 17-9 after dropping two straight games to the Florida Gators and the Georgia Bulldogs. The Florida loss was expected, but the Georgia loss was yet another pitiful performance. Kentucky had been playing better of late, but it appears that may have been fool’s gold.
Inconsistency remains this team’s biggest
issue. Couple that with Pope’s frequent lineup struggles, and a decent team on the road is a recipe for potential disaster. Kentucky is just 3-4 on the road this season, and Auburn may be the toughest place to play in the SEC.
New Auburn head coach Steven Pearl is in his first season following his father Bruce’s abrupt retirement. The Tigers boast just a 14-12 record on the season after losing five straight games. However, don’t let the record deceive you as Pearl’s squad is incredibly talented, led by SEC POY candidate Keyshawn Murphy and electric point guard Tahaad Pettiford.
This will be another tough test for the Cats. There’s no telling which Kentucky team will show up, so fingers crossed.
