CBS Sports | R.J. Anderson: Shortstop Anthony Volpe has been in an especially brutal slump as of late, and on Thursday something that can’t have helped was announced. Volpe has been playing through a partially torn labrum in his shoulder, had received a cortisone injection over the All-Star break, and recently has gotten another one. While he got Thursday off, he’s not expected to go on the injured list to deal with the injury.
ESPN: In Thursday’s win over the Tigers, Aaron Judge continued his climb
into Yankees’ history. Judge hit another two homers, moving into a tie for fourth on the franchise’s all-time leaderboard. With 361, Judge is now even with Joe DiMaggio, and it seems only a matter of time until he holds that #4 spot all alone. Now though, it’ll be a while until he gets close to Lou Gehrig and his 493 in third place.

One that has been almost entirely great has been the deal for David Bednar. “El Oso” or “The Bear” has drawn rave reviews from his teammates, both for his time with the Yankees and how tough he was to face when he played with the Pirates.
