Barcelona manager Hansi Flick spoke about two exciting teenagers who may (or may not) be involved in Sunday’s La Liga match against Sevilla.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, the coach was asked if he’s planning on resting Lamine Yamal with the Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Newcastle in mind, and Hansi’s answer was short and sweet: “We’ll see.” So, I guess we’ll see!
As for Xavi Espart, who made his debut in the first leg against Newcastle and has a real chance to start
given all the absences at the back, Flick was full of praise for the youngster and thinks he’s “a good option” for the XI on Sunday.
“Every player in the team could be in the starting eleven. [Xavi] was injured a few months ago, but what I’ve seen from him is good. Today he is giving us one more option and this is important because Balde and Koundé cannot play. It’s a good option.”
So the conclusion is: Xavi Espart has a good chance to start, and Lamine is probably starting too because he always plays but Flick wants to give us at least some hope that he’ll be rested, which we already know won’t happen.
