Will Ospreay won’t waste time as world champion. Fresh off beating Jon Moxley to headline All Out, the new ace of AEW already called out his next challenger for Grand Slam France. That man is Kazuchika Okada.
Ospreay announced his intentions at the post-PPV presser. He wants to show the global audience what the world champion is all about at Grand Slam France. Okada was his mentor, but Ospreay has leveled up since then. Okada spoke a little bit of French when accepting the challenge. “Of course. Can I say one thing? Bonjour, bitches.” The Rainmaker flashed that smile. Tony Khan signed off on the title bout to make it official.
Ospreay explained his reason for calling out Okada. A lot of wrestlers beat Ospreay on his rise to the world championship. He wants to rectify every one of those losses.
Ospreay has history with Okada, primarily in NJPW. The Rainmaker took round one in 2015 in RevPro. Okada leads the personal series, especially with major wins. He holds victories over Ospreay to retain the IWGP world heavyweight title, in the G1 Climax 2022 final, and in the AEW Continental Classic 2024 final.
This should be a crackerjack of a main event. AEW Grand Slam France takes place in Paris on Tuesday, October 6.
Are you excited for Ospreay versus Okada at Grand Slam France? Do you like the theme of Ospreay’s world title reign so far?
