With summer quickly coming to an end and students getting ready to return to campus, Dan Hurley and UConn have officially filled out the 2025-26 roster with addition of two European products. The school announced Monday that the Huskies have added 18-year old big man Rrezon Elezaj and 22-year-old guard Uroš Paunović as the 14th and 15th players respectively on the 2025-26 roster.
Elezaj, a 7-foot-1 center, joins UConn after playing with Beşiktaş in Turkey’s U19 league. He averaged 7.6 points, 5.8
rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game last season and has also spent time as part of the Turkish national team.
“Rrezon is an interesting prospect, a true 7-footer, who just turned 18,” Hurley said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to bringing him into our program and getting to work on his development. He has really solid instincts and timing as a shot-blocker and is a legitimate lob threat in the ball-screen game. Rrezon has experience coming through the ranks as a Turkish youth national team player, and we’re excited to add him to our group up front with Tarris, Eric, and Dwayne.”
Paunović comes to Storrs after spending four seasons in KLS, Serbia’s top professional division, across multiple teams. The 6-foot-3 guard spent last season with KK Zlatibor, where he averaged 8.8 points per game and shot 34.8 percent from the 3-point line. At 22 years old, Paunović should bring a veteran presence to the Huskies and be a formidable practice partner that should stack up well with a loaded UConn backcourt due to his size.
“Uroš is a guy we liked on film. He’s got a ton of experience as a 22-year-old; he’s been a starter professionally in the top division in Serbia, a 6-3 guard who’s pretty good with the ball, can shoot and pass, and plays with real emotion on the floor,” Hurley said. “We’re looking forward to having him join the Huskies.”
Given that Elezaj and Paunović were late adds to an already-loaded roster, it’s unlikely both see any significant playing time this season. But both will have a critical role with this year’s teams as depth and practice players that will give the Huskies’ core rotation players quality competition each day.
