The Eagles have already clinched the NFC East division title, and their spot in the playoffs, but they were still playing for seeding and for pride against the Bills on Sunday. Unfortunately, in a game
with little on the line, injuries started to stack up in the first half. Seemingly right after another, Jaelan Phillips went down, then Britain Covey took a big hit, and then Saquon Barkley was slow to get up. They all returned to the game, but it was a reminder that the Eagles need these guys healthy for their anticipated postseason run.
Shortly after Barkley was injured, Jalen Hurts took a late hit on the sideline that resulted in him slipping and he briefly appeared hurt by the incident. Still, the QB didn’t appear fazed as he rejoined the offense, but it was something to keep an eye on.
SAQUON BARKLEY
Nearly halfway through the second quarter, Saquon Barkley took a hit by Joey Bosa for a two-yard loss and was super slow to get up. He looked to be in a lot of pain as he made his way off the field. He returned to the game after three plays, so it didn’t keep him sidelined, but there were moments he was slow to get up on the plays that followed.
JAELAN PHILLIPS
Eagles edge rusher Jaelan Phillips was an instant impact player for the Philadelphia defense when he joined the team ahead of the trade deadline. On Sunday evening against the Bills, Phillips went down in the second quarter and was tended to by trainers on the field. Eventually, Phillips slowly made his way to the sideline under his own power, but notably limping.
Phillips has recorded 22 total sacks, four pass breakups, a fumble recovery, and a sack in his seven games with the Eagles, and was a leader right away. He was able to come out of the injury tent with his helmet, and returned to the game on the next drive.
BRITAIN COVEY
Special teams got a big boost in Philadelphia when the team finally put Britain Covey back as a punt returner, but on Sunday against the Bills, the WR took a big hit to the leg, even after signaling for a fair catch. He was able to pop up and leave the field, but could be seen wincing in pain on the sideline while talking to trainers.
