Bayern Munich is heading towards a much-anticipated contract extension with superstar striker Harry Kane, with only some details left to clarify, such as contract length.
But is a happy resolution a sure thing? Don’t pop the champagne just yet, warns Bayern sporting chief Max Eberl.
Asked if he was able yet to reassure the Bayern faithful, Eberl demurred.
“I wouldn’t say ‘reassure,’ because with contracts, until they’re actually signed, so much can still happen. As they say, you can never count your
chickens before they hatch,” Eberl explained in comments captured by Ransport (via @iMiaSanMia). “But we’ve had talks, and we’re still having talks.
“We both feel extremely comfortable with each other. He feels very comfortable in Munich. We’re absolutely delighted that he’s at Bayern, and he didn’t win the Golden Shoe for a second time for nothing. He feels very comfortable within the team, and that’s what matters to him. He also won team trophies for the first time in his career. So, accordingly, I don’t see what should stand in the way.”
At this point, despite the apparent presence of other clubs hovering around with interest, it would be a titanic shock to see Bayern and Kane not hammer something out.
