There has been a lot of talk about the rough start to the season for Bayern Munich left-winger Luis Díaz, who only has one goal in six games across all competitions so far this season.
For Bayern Munich backup goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, when it clicks for Díaz, it will result in the same kind of performance that the Colombian put in last year.
“I have a very good impression of him. He’s always working hard and always eager to improve and score goals. That’s why, for me, it’s only a matter of time before
he starts scoring the goals he did last season again, regardless of when that happens. We’re very happy to have him,” Urbig said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia)
Díaz showed some life in his sub appearance during Bayern Munich’s 2-1 victory over SV Elversberg on Sunday, but was still held without a goal or an assist. After a 2025/26 campaign where he amassed 26 goals and 23 assists in 51 games across all competitions, the slow start has been alarming to some fans.
However, in all of that action last season, Díaz also tallied 4060 minutes before heading to the World Cup to be a key part of Colombia’s run.
Simply put, that year of action could have left him a little tired and beat up. If his playing time is managed properly and he can get fresh, Díaz could get back to looking like his 2025 self soon enough.
