No. 8 Tennessee will tip off the season in Knoxville tonight, set to take on Wofford at Food City Center. The Volunteers have massive expectations this season after hitting the transfer portal hard, adding the likes of Juke Harris, Terrence Hill Jr., Dai Dai Ames and several others. On paper, this might be Rick Barnes’ most offensively gifted roster since he’s been in Knoxville.
The early returns haven’t been there, however. Tennessee struggled through exhibition matchups against Xavier and Duke,
breaking down both offensively and defensively. Injuries to Terrence Hill Jr. and Tyler Lundblade certainly didn’t help.
Tennessee will now try to get things straightened out with a handful of tune-up games. The Vols have Wofford tonight, then Radford and Tennessee State. The first big test comes against Michigan State on November 17th.
