The Tennessee Titans were defeated 24-18 by the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The Week 4 loss dropped the Titans to a winless 0-4. General manager Mike Borgonzi is still being tasked with turning this rebuilding roster into a competitive team.
We’re roughly halfway to the NFL trade deadline. This year’s deadline is Nov. 10 (4 p.m. ET). Each passing loss makes the Titans more likely to trade veteran plays for draft capital. Remember the Titans traded Dre’Mont Jones, Jarvis Brownlee, and Roger McCreary
in-season last year.
Additional losses will have the Titans playing for positioning in the 2027 NFL Draft. We’ve identified three veteran players the Titans should consider trading before the Week 9 trade deadline.
RB Tony Pollard
Veteran running back Tony Pollard is in a contract year. He’s unlikely to be brought back by Mike Borgonzi in 2027. Trading Pollard would create more opportunities for Nicholas Singleton, allowing the Titans to find out if he’s capable of being a solution in the backfield next season. Pollard should have some value around the league as a consistent down-to-down runner.
LB Cody Barton
Unfathomably, veteran linebacker Cody Barton continues playing over Cedric Gray (opposite Anthony Hill). The Ravens isolated him in coverage on Sunday and completed a 55-yard explosive play to Zay Flowers. Barton is a mature veteran with leadership skills, but he isn’t going to be a part of the future solution in Tennessee. Getting draft capital for him would be worthwhile.
WR Calvin Ridley
Does the aging Calvin Ridley even have any value in a trade? Borgonzi would have to rely on his resume as a multi-time 1,000 yard receiver. The Titans likely plan to release Ridley next offseason, making his contract manageable via trade. Meanwhile, Carnell Tate, Wan’Dale Robinson, Elic Ayomanor, and Chimere Dike are all under contract through at least 2028.
