After being traded from NC Courage for an NWSL record $1.25 million in intra-league funds, Jaedyn Shaw would make her debut for NJ/NY Gotham FC against her former team, San Diego Wave.
In the 45th minute, Esther González would retake the Golden Boot lead with her 13th goal.
Coming on as a sub at the start at the second half, Shaw wasted almost no time in making an immediate difference. In her debut, she would score and double the lead 2-0, putting the finishing touches on Gotham FC’s third consecutive
win.
With both teams desperate needing points late in the season to secure a home playoff match, it was the visitors who came out with three points at Snapdragon Stadium. The 2-0 road win would push GFC to third in the NWSL table.
Meanwhile, San Diego Wave were shutout for a fourth consecutive match, but remain fourth in the standings.
Could Jaedyn Shaw be the missing piece for NJ/NY Gotham FC?
