Penn State In the Mix for Elite QB
2027 four-star quarterback Israel Abrams is now on Penn State’s radar following Matt Campbell’s hiring:
Abrams is the No. 3 quarterback in the 2027 class as of today. The most recent projections had Abrams heading to Iowa State, but with Matt Campbell now at Penn State, the Nittany Lions are certainly a possibility to flip him.
Penn State Offers Four-Star Wide Receiver
Penn State offered four-star wide receiver Samson Gash yesterday:
Gash has been trending toward West Virginia recently after Michigan State fired Jonathan Smith, but the Nittany Lions are now throwing their hat in the ring. He is the son of former Penn State running back Sam Gash.
Iowa Offensive Lineman Considering Penn State
Four-star offensive lineman Will Slagle is still committed to Iowa State but is still considering a move to Happy Valley with last week’s events:
Slagle is the top recruit from Iowa in the 2027 class and the No. 10 interior offensive lineman nationally. He committed to Iowa State on November 22.
Iowa State Transfer Portal Window Opens
The main window for NCAA football players to enter the transfer portal is not until after New Year’s Day, but Iowa State players are allowed to enter the portal now with Matt Campbell leaving for Penn State. A few players have already entered the portal:
- Wide receiver Karon Brookins
- Defensive back Quentin Taylor
- Wide receiver Zay Robinson
Expect this list to grow in the coming weeks. Penn State will rely on the transfer portal to build its 2026 roster with only 2 high school recruits in the 2026 class as of today.
