We’re a couple days into the international break and there’s little club football being played (you know I’m talking about the Football League Trophy).
Anyways, with so little going on, let’s take a look
at some of the leagues across Europe. Except this time we’re also expanding our scan to the US, only because hoddle headquarters is interested in everything Heung-min Son related.
Bundesliga
This is really all about Harry Kane. The former Spurs striker has already scored 11 goals and recorded three assists in eight games so far. He’s scored a total of 103 goals in his 106 appearances for the club so far. Incredible.
- Bayern (18 Pts, +22 GD)
- Dortmund (14 Pts, +8 GD)
- Leipzig (13 Pts, 0 GD)
- Stuttgart (12 Pts, +2 GD)
La Liga
Barcelona lost early ground in the title race after getting thumped 4-1 by Erika Lamela’s Sevilla. Meanwhile Villareal, who Spurs beat in the Champions League a couple weeks ago, lost 3-1 to Real Madrid this past weekend.
- Real Madrid (21 Pts, +10 GD)
- Barcelona (19 Pts, +13 GD)
- Villareal (16 Pts, +6 GD)
- Real Betis (15 Pts, +5 GD)
Serie A
Napoli – last year’s champions – are top of the table in the early days of the latest Serie A season. But they’ve lost their only challenge against a potential title challenger in AC Milan. Their match against Inter latest this month should be more telling. Also don’t sleep on Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma.
- Napoli (15 Pts, +6 GD)
- Roma (15 Pts, +5 GD)
- AC Milan (13 Pts, +6 GD)
- Inter (12 Pts, +9 GD)
Belgian Super League
Vincent Janssen’s Antwerp are struggling this year. They’ve won just two matches out of 10 and currently occupy one of the slots for the relegation play-offs.
- Union SG (23 Pts, +14 GD)
- Club Brugge (20 Pts, + 6 GD)
- Anerlecht (18 Pts, +6 GD)
- Gent (17 Pts, +4 GD)
Icelandic League
A quick Wikipedia search tells me that this league, which I’ve never seen, is over. Vikingury Reykjavik are the champions of the 2025 Besta deild karla, the top flight in the Icelandic football pyramid.
MLS
Heung-min Son has scored eight goals and recorded two assists in nine matches since joining LAFC from Tottenham Hotspur, including a hat trick against Real Salt Lake in September.
That’s helped LAFC qualify for the first round of the MLS Cup playoffs which will take place later this month and run through early December. LA Galaxy, last year’s champions, currently sit bottom in the Western Conference. But will the trophy be coming home to another LA team?
Western conference standings:
- San Diego FC (60 Pts, +19 GD)
- Vancouver (60 Pts, +28 GD)
- Minnesota (58 Pts, +18 GD)
- LAFC (56 Pts, +24 GD)
- Seattle Sounders (49 Pts, +8 GD)
- Austin (44 Pts, -8 GD)
- Portland (44 Pts, -3 GD)
- FC Dallas (41 Pts, -3 GD)
- Real Salt Lake (40 Pts, -10 GD)
