The Cleveland Browns will have their third starting quarterback of the 2025 NFL season when Shedeur Sanders takes the field in Week 12 versus the Las Vegas Raiders. Bailey Zappe will be the backup for the Browns due to Dillon Gabriel’s concussion.
Sanders may not be able to change the future for Cleveland, but he is preparing as if his first start could be his last
, while Browns fans (mostly) want him to be successful, while also focused on 2026 NFL draft order-related games.Sanders replaced Deshaun
Watson as the big-name quarterback with the Browns, but Watson is still around the team. According to multiple reports, starting with Mary Kay Cabot, Watson will travel with the team for the first time this season as support for Cleveland’s new starter:
HC Kevin Stefanski may not have wanted to play Sanders this year, but he has spent a lot of extra time with the young quarterback all season and, now, has Watson coming along to help him out as well. Whether or not the veteran quarterback can be helpful to Sanders or not, Cleveland still has the same struggling offensive line, pass-catching group, and offensive system that Gabriel struggled with.
We may not know if it will help, but fans should expect to see a lot of shots of Sanders and Watson talking on the sideline during Browns vs Raiders in Week 12.
