The Syracuse Orange Men’s Soccer team is back in the NCAA Tournament. After missing out on the tournament last season, the Orange will host Hofstra at the SU Soccer Stadium on Thursday, November 20 for
the first round. Kickoff is set for 6:00 pm. The winner of the match will travel north to play No. 1 overall seed and defending national champions Vermont.
After missing the NCAA Tournament last season, Syracuse initially struggled with four losses in non-conference play to start off 2025. The Orange rallied in ACC action and finished with a 4-3-1 record, good for sixth in the conference. Syracuse defeated Virginia Tech and NC State, who were ranked No. 5 at the time, to make the ACC semifinals, where the Orange lost to the eventual ACC champions in SMU.
Hofstra finished with a 12-5 record but will enter the NCAA Tournament disappointed. The Pride, as the CAA’s No. 1 seed, lost to second-seeded Stony Brook in the CAA Semifinals. That ended Hofstra’s four-year streak as CAA Champions. Syracuse is 3-1 all-time against Hofstra. The Orange last played against the Pride in the 2020-21 COVID affected season. Syracuse won 2-1.
The Orange last made the NCAA Tournament in 2023. Syracuse hosted Boston University in the first round, winning 3-1. The Orange would lose in the next round to No. 10 overall seed New Hampshire by a 3-0 scoreline. Syracuse won the previous NCAA Tournament in 2022, which is the program’s only national championship to date.
Syracuse is one of nine teams from the ACC that qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Virginia, SMU, Stanford and NC State all earned national seeds and first round byes. Syracuse joins Clemson, Duke and North Carolina as ACC teams who will host first round games. Notre Dame rounds out the ACC teams who qualified for the NCAA Tournament. The Fighting Irish will travel to Michigan for the first round.
Under Ian McIntyre, Syracuse has hosted 10 NCAA Tournament games at the SU Soccer Stadium. The Orange has won all 10 games.
