Indiana men’s basketball opened the 2025-26 season, the program’s first under head coach Darian DeVries, on an offensive tear unseen around the men’s program in several seasons.
The Hoosiers scored no less
than 90 points across their first three matchups including a 100-77 thumping of Marquette at the United Center in Chicago. They were taking and making several 3-pointers in the process, which Indiana hasn’t done in… well just about a decade now.
Then, for whatever reason, there was a wall. Games against Incarnate Word and Lindenwood were drawn-out slugfests with the former threatening to turn into an upset bid in the closing minutes. The 3s stopped falling and the offensive fireworks went with them.
Indiana’s defense was enough to hold on against UIW and keep Lindenwood beyond arm’s length, but the lack of offense created a bit of concern. Last week, we asked Indiana fans if they were confident the Hoosiers can keep scoring when 3s aren’t falling.
As you can see, a majority of fans believe Indiana can keep scoring on off shooting nights. You’d rather figure out how to do so when you’re relatively safe rather than on the road in the thick of conference play.
Indiana returns to action on Tuesday night against Kansas State at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington.
