Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson revealed that new FA acquisition Coby Bryant will be out for 4-6 months after having surgery this past Friday on his knee. The injury occurred on the first day of padded practices when Bryant went up against Cole Kmet and came down awkward after getting tangled up with the 6’6”, 257 tight end.
Devastating news considering Bears GM Ryan Poles let 2025 starters Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker walk in free agency. To make matter worse, Bryant was Chicago’s highest paid FA
addition this summer – inking a 3 year $40 million deal – choosing to add to the back seven of the defense with Bryant and linebacker Devin Bush instead of making a big splash up front on the DL.
Good thing Poles landed safety Dillon Thieneman in the first round so the position isn’t completely devoid of blue-chip talent. Hopefully the rookie and newcomer Xavier Woods continue to settle in opposite each other and the front seven can pressure the opposing QB, or else we may be in for some more shootouts this season.
Speaking of injuries, has anyone seen Kyler Gordon?
