Northwestern first-year forward Tre Singleton is intending to enter the transfer portal, sources tell On3.
The Jeffersonville, Indiana native came to Northwestern as the school’s highest ranked recruit in
the modern era after spearheading Jeffersonville High School’s 4A State Championship title run. In his first season as a Wildcat, Singleton posted 7.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game, while becoming a focal part of the ‘Cats starting rotation, serving as a starter in 31 games this season.
Singleton’s departure was unexpected and a potentially devastating blow to the program, as many expected him to be one of the core parts of the team’s future. He becomes the third Wildcat to enter the transfer portal, after first-year big man Cade Bennerman and sophomore guard K.J. Windham.
The news of Singleton’s imminent departure has already prompted reactions from his fellow teammates, such as Jake West.
Northwestern was already in need of talent this offseason. Now, the search for it becomes more urgent, as they’ll be in the market for a lengthy, athletic and starting-caliber forward to replace Singleton.
