After having one of the best freshman seasons in UNC basketball history, Caleb Wilson didn’t have to wait very long to hear his name called in the 2026 NBA Draft. Wilson was selected fourth overall by the Bulls and will join Chicago next season.
Wilson had arguably the best freshman season in UNC history, averaging 19.8 points per game on almost 58% shooting. Wilson was a UNC leader in almost every way; his 9.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.5 steals per game were all ranked first or second
on the team. Just as importantly, Wilson was a leader on the court as well; his high energy play and relentless drive were clearly needed on a UNC team that at times seems like they needed a jolt. His injuries were probably the single biggest reason Carolina’s season floundered at the end and arguably was one of the dominos to fall that led to Hubert Davis’s ouster.
Thankfully, his injuries didn’t seem to affect his draft stock, and he should be ready to go for next season. He will be joining a Bulls team that will look very different than last year’s squad; Billy Donovan was replaced by Tiago Splitter as head coach, and the roster will look very different than it did at the beginning of the 2025-2026 season. Wilson should get the opportunity to be the face of the franchise almost immediately.
So, what do you think of the Bulls as Wilson’s landing spot? While it’s (highly) unlikely he ends up as the best Tar Heel the Bulls have ever drafted, how do you think his career in Chicago will go?
