With the Minnesota Vikings dealing with injury issues and other things at the wide receiver position, they may be looking to bring in some established help as we get closer to the start of the 2025 regular season.
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Vikings are “seriously exploring veteran receivers in the trade market,” though he notes that there is nothing imminent yet.
As far
as what the Vikings are dealing with at the moment, Justin Jefferson has returned to practice following the hamstring injury he suffered early in camp and, as Pelissero notes, is on track to play in Week 1 in Chicago. Beyond that, Jordan Addison is set to miss the first three games due to the suspension he was given for his 2024 DUI, and Jalen Nailor is dealing with a hand issue that may or may not require surgery.
After those three names on the depth chart, the Vikings have virtually zero experience, with players like Lucky Jackson, Tim Jones, and Jeshaun Jones rounding things out as it stands at the moment.
The final round of preseason games starts on Thursday, with the Vikings playing a nationally televised contest against the Tennessee Titans in Nashville on Friday night. After that, the deadline for teams to cut their rosters from 90 to 53 is this coming Tuesday, 26 August, at 3:00 PM Central time. There will be teams who may be waiting to see if they can get a late-round draft pick for a player that they’re going to cut, and the Vikings might be in line to make such a move.
As we noted yesterday, the Vikings are currently in line to receive three extra draft picks in the 2026 NFL Draft thanks to the Compensatory pick process, so they will have some extra ammunition in their pockets.
At this point, I’m not totally sure who the Vikings might be targeting in the veteran wide receiver market, but as soon as anything happens we will let you know about it.
