The information comes from a report from Ransport’s Martin Volkmar prior to last weekend’s DFB-Pokal Final between Stuttgart and Nübel’s parent club. As captured by @iMiaSanMia:
Three European clubs have enquired about Alexander Nübel. The goalkeeper will definitely leave Stuttgart after tomorrow’s Pokal final. Bayern want to find a suitor for him as soon as possible. However, Nübel is unwilling to make significant concessions – both financially and in terms of his sporting ambitions. His current
Bayern salary is around €11m gross per year. Bayern are hoping a Premier League club would match that [@MartinVolkmar, @ransport]
BFW Analysis
This is not a straightforward situation for Nübel, who has proven himself for three seasons at a club that cannot afford to retain him and has already identified a successor in Dennis Seimen. However, the 29-year-old’s time in Stuttgart has been productive, and he enters this summer as the No. 3 keeper on a Germany Men’s World Cup that is featuring Manuel Neuer in his last hurrah and 35-year-old TSG keeper Oliver Baumann. There is a decent chance that after the World Cup, he will be the presumptive No. 1 for Germany going forward…though he also has rising youngsters, including Bayern’s Jonas Urbig, hot on his tail.
A recent BFW community feed post took a look at how Nübel’s underlying metrics fared this season against other big-name Bundesliga keepers, and it was not in an unflattering light:
All that is to say that Nübel’s performances should garner him interest at the level he desires. But it will all be down to which teams have the openings.
