The Detroit Tigers open up the second half of their current six-game home stand on Friday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Things have been tough lately for the Olde English D, having lost 10 of its last 12, and it will not get any easier with one of Major League Baseball’s best teams rolling into town.
Opening things up for the Motor City Kitties is right-hander Drew Anderson, who will be making his seventh start this season. Since moving to a permanent starting role, the 32-year-old has posted
a respectable 3.57 ERA but a less impressive 5.57 FIP stretching across four games and 17 2/3 innings, allowing 16 hits (four home runs) and six walks while striking out 13, tallying a loss along the way while his team has gone 3-1 overall in his outings.
For the Dodgers, left-hander Tarik Skubal makes his first appearance against Detroit at Comerica Park since being traded at the MLB deadline. In the 29-year-old’s four games with Los Angeles this season, he has put up a 3.38 ERA and 2.67 FIP across 24 innings, surrendering 20 hits (two home runs) and seven walks while striking out 30 and hitting a batter.
