Last week the New York Jets suffered their second straight heart-breaking loss. They faced off against the Detroit Lions and had the ball in Lions territory, driving for a game-tying score late in the fourth quarter when disaster struck. Geno Smith was sacked on a Lions blitz and fumbled. The Lions recovered and that was the end of the Jets chances for an upset victory. The loss gave the Jets a 1-2 record on the season. Today the Jets try to get back on the winning track as they stay on the road
against the Chicago Bears. Kickoff is scheduled for shortly after 1 PM at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.
The Bears opened the 2026 season with a resounding 59 – 37 blowout victory over the Carlina Panthers. They followed that up with a thud, losing to the Minnesota Vikings 9 – 3 in a game that saw Bears starting quarterback Caleb Williams exit the field with an injury. Williams remained on the bench last week as Case Keenum made his first NFL start since 2023. Keenum played surprisingly well, leading the Bears to a 27 – 7 thrashing of the Philadelphia Eagles last week.

The 2-1 Bears enter this game expecting to field their third different starting quarterback in the last three weeks. 26 year old Tyson Bagent is expected to start his first NFL game since he made four starts in his rookie year of 2023.
Despite the backup quarterback Bagent starting for the Bears, this game will likely be a formidable challenge for the Jets. The Bears head coach Ben Johnson is an outstanding offensive mind and will no doubt cook up some interesting wrinkles to best use Bagent’s talents at quarterback. In addition, the Bears come into this game with the #1 running game in the NFL. Throw in a defense that has allowed no more than 260 yards and 9 points to each of their last two opponents, and you have a difficult matchup for a Jets team struggling with injuries. The Jets are missing almost half of their offensive starters today, and they will be without four wide receivers. That is unfortunate against a Bears pass defense that has been a weakness for them thus far this season.
The Jets’ best chance for victory today involves limiting the Bears’ chunk plays on offense, confusing the inexperienced Bagent enough to create some sacks and turnovers, and throwing the ball as much as possible to Garrett Wilson and Kenyon Sadiq while grinding away on the ground with Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis. Can they pull off the upset? We’ll find out soon enough.
It’s the Jets and the Bears in game 4 of the 2026 season. Enjoy the game everyone.
