Breece Hall suffered a minor groin injury in Jets practice on Monday. Head coach Aaron Glenn did not sound very concerned initially. Glenn followed up on Tuesday by noting that the team expects Hall to be ready for the regular season opener against the Tennessee Titans a few weeks down the line.
I think there are certain players who benefit from work in training camp and
the preseason. Hall probably isn’t among them. As an established veteran, I doubt he needs a lot of work to be ready for the regular season. And the running back position is one when for the most part you take a handoff and make a play. Of course there is a degree of technique involved, but it is less complex than say a wide receiver releasing off the line of scrimmage against press coverage and running a crisp route. If anything, I worry about wear and tear if a back receives too many snaps in meaningless exhibition games.
The big thing for Hall is to get ready for the opener because the Jets will need him.
