It’s
been nice to have a flurry of activity across baseball the last few days. The offseason is more fun when there are actual moves to be discussed, not just arguing over various rumors that may or may not be completely irrelevant. But alas, today is the last day of the Winter Meetings, and tomorrow baseball and its offseason will likely reenter hibernation, only to emerge at undetermined intervals to present some morsel of news.

Phillies news:
- The Phillies have an offer on the table for J.T. Realmuto and are in waiting mode, but they won’t wait forever, according to MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki.
- The behind-the-scenes story on how the Phillies were able to keep Kyle Schwarber in Philadelphia.
- The Rule 5 draft was yesterday, and the Phillies were active, adding Zach McCambley and losing Griff McGarry to the Nationals.
- Philadelphia also made a small trade, acquiring RHP Yoniel Curet from the Rays in exchange for RHP Tommy McCollum.
- Schwarber may be back, and Realmuto may soon join him, but the Phillies are still looking to make changes. ($)
MLB news:
- The Orioles may have been the runners-up for Schwarber, but they took the exact deal they offered the slugger and gave it to Pete Alonso, who is set to leave the Mets after reportedly agreeing to a five year, $155M deal with Baltimore.
- With Schwarber and Alonso off the board, Kyle Tucker remains as the biggest bat still on the market. And he seems to have no shortage of suitors.
