What is the story about?
The
Tennessee Titans returned to the practice field on Tuesday afternoon following Monday’s session. It was their eighth of 10 scheduled OTA practices, the second straight that was open to the media. Thanks to local reporters like Paul Kuharsky, Turron Davenport, and A to Z Sports, we’ve compiled some notable tidbits from Tuesday’s practice.
- Levis allegedly had his best practice of OTAs after drawing some negative feedback for his early performances. Kuharsky had Levis at 14-of-16 with three touchdowns. A to Z Sports claimed Levis didn’t even have a turnover-worthy play. It sounded like a strong performance for the former Kentucky standout.
- Carnell Tate missed practice, according to everyone in attendance. It sounds like the rookie first-round pick is dealing with an incredibly minor ding that the Titans are approaching with caution. That’s the smart approach. Tate could return for practice on Thursday, or for mandatory minicamp next week.
- Backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky had another strong practice after making his debut at Monday’s session. Trubisky was 14-of-17 with a touchdown, per Kuharsky. He’s showing quick command of Brian Daboll’s offense, which he’s familiar with after playing under him in Buffalo. That’s precisely why Daboll wanted to bring him to Tennessee.
- Cam Ward endured another up-and-down practice. He threw touchdowns to Xavier Restrepo and Elic Ayomanor, per Turron Davenport. He was also intercepted by Micah Robinson, and had a ball batted down by Cody Barton. Ward continues to have highs and lows at OTAs.
- It was a big day for Chimere Dike, who was the Titans’ most productive receiver in Tate’s and Calvin Ridley’s (individual work) absence. Dike caught a sideline pass from Ward, a 60-yard TD from Levis in 7-on-7, and a touchdown from Trubisky, according to Davenport, Kuharsky, and Easton Freeze. The sophomore wideout was productive with every quarterback.
