Before the 2025 season begins, all websites, insiders, and fans can go off of is teams on paper. This is one of the issues with power rankings being done before the season. Still, it is always fun to see where your favorite team is on the rankings, even if many people doubt the team.
Let’s see where the New Orleans Saints rank before the regular season.

It’s not as if the roster is completely barren, or that New Orleans plays in some loaded division. The reason so many observers, including myself,
are so down on the Saints is because of the questions at quarterback. Spencer Rattler gets the first crack to prove the doubters wrong, and while Kellen Moore insists the situation is settled, it seems like at some point they’ll turn to Tyler Shough. I’m confident in that because, from the outside, it felt obvious the Saints wanted Shough to win the job outright, and if things don’t go well, they’ll be in a prime spot to select a QB high in what could be a stronger year at the position in the 2026 NFL Draft — so they should want to find out what they have in Shough before then. The defense looks moderately capable, and Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave might offer enough help offensively. But Moore absolutely will have his hands full trying to get the most from this QB room in what could be a long season.”

“The Saints sit at the bottom of the PFF Power Rankings. Despite that, there is some notable intrigue around the team. How will current starting quarterback Spencer Rattler fare under center? It’s clear that the former fifth-round pick has arm talent, but poor decision-making cursed him in 2024. If that happens again, will we see second-round pick Tyler Shough?
The goal is clear for the Saints. Like the Browns, it’s to identify the young talent they want to keep around and set the table for drafting a quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft.
One player to watch in 2025: Wide receiver Chris Olave has suffered several concussions so far in his NFL career, but if he can stay healthy, his ceiling is wildly high. Olave is one of the few standouts for the Saints offense, earning an 82.4 PFF overall grade in 2024. ”

“New Orleans Saints fans should keep the Tankathon tab open on their computer or mobile device. Spencer Rattler may be a slightly better option than rookie second-rounder Tyler Shough at quarterback, but he didn’t win the job with dazzling performances.
In three preseason games, Rattler threw one touchdown pass, one interception that resulted in a pick-six and ran for a two-point conversion. The Saints’ quarterback situation will take the air out of their offense.
Unless New Orleans ranks near the top of the league in rushing, this is a four-win team at best.

“The quarterback situation isn’t good and they have some issues at other spots. They look like they could be in the No. 1-pick derby for next year.”

“Spencer Rattler won the preseason quarterback competition after giving us some fun moments a year ago during the tail end of the Darren Rizzi era. This Saints team is all about offloading responsibilities onto younger players and developing this offensive line into the powerhouse it can be. At the same time, it doesn’t seem like it now, but the Saints could define the NFC South as a rough and tumble division for years to come with the right coaching. ”
