Bundesliga ball is back for Bayern Munich, who return after the international break. Just prior to the break, Bayern played perhaps their least impressive game in recent days — a 2-2 draw against Union
Berlin. Now playing against SC Freiburg at home, Bayern hoped to return to form ahead of crucial fixtures like Arsenal FC away in the Champions League.
Though the game started out poorly for Bayern who conceded twice within the first twenty minutes from set-pieces, they salvaged it by starting a scoring fest at the 22nd. The first goal, courtesy of Lennart Karl was phenomenal — a lethal shot assisted by Michael Olise. Karl returned the favor at half-time — an assist to Olise’s goal.
To say that Karl was everywhere tonight would be an understatement. A youngster who plays with skill beyond his years, he genuinely deserved a starting spot.
Midway through the game, Karl slumped onto the grass, clutching his hip. Worrying it may be an injury, he was substituted promptly and taken for treatment. Later, following the game, per @iMiaSanMia, the youngster assured that everything was fine, and that it was because of a knock he’d taken in training the previous day at the same region.
“I took a knock yesterday in training, but everything’s fine.”
Further speaking on the game, calling the first few minutes a difficult start, Karl emphasized on the importance of belief.
“It was a difficult start with the two goals we conceded, but we knew we were very good going forward and we turned the game around, so in the end everything’s good,” he explained, per @iMiaSanMia. “ I trust myself on the pitch, I’m not afraid of my opponents and just try to play my game,” he declared.
