Lead Rumor: WWE executive shakeup update
When word started getting around that Bruce Prichard would be retiring from his role as Executive Director of Creative Writing & Talent after WrestleMania 43 and moving into a remote consulting position, it was quickly followed with word that Shawn Michaels, who currently heads up NXT, would be taking his place.
Not so fast.
That’s the word from Fightful Select, at least, who say Prichard isn’t retiring so much as simply getting off the road. That could be due to preparation for neck surgery, which
makes travel difficult. He can still do the job from home, however, and he has many times in recent years.
What’s more, all the talk of changes to WWE, NXT, Evolve and more are “either inaccurate or far from finalized,” says Fightful. AJ Styles is “expected” to gain influence in WWE’s scouting department and Bobby Roode is being considered for a role similar to Michael Hayes but that’s not finalized.
Changes could be coming, then, but they may not be as drastic as initial rumors indicated.
Other rumors floating around
- Another sign Jacob Fatu should be back soon: PWInsider Elite reported Fatu was at WWE on Tuesday filming WarGames material with others who are expected to be in The Bloodline vs. 946 match at Survivor Series.
- Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that the original plan for the John Cena Classic called for tournament matches with fans voting on a winner instead of the match deciding who advanced. That was scrapped but it’s still unclear what they shifted to.
- Meltzer also said he “heard from some people” at NXT after Halloween Havoc whose “basic comment” was that the Naraku/Shiloh Hill cinematic match “ruined the entire show.”
- Per PW Insider, WWE is currently “working out the finer details of the timing” of the Worlds Collide show airing the same night as an episode of NXT television.
