Here’s a new one: According to Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, Tottenham Hotspur youth academy graduate and striker Dane Scarlett is looking like he will be heading to League One side Leyton Orient on a permanent deal before the transfer window closes.
Scarlett had some oblique use to Tottenham’s first team squad as he’s home-grown
and association trained, but the issue is that despite a lot of promise he just never made the leap from promising and talented youngster to Premier League footballer. League One is probably his levl, and Tottenham has a very good relationship with Orient that stretches all the way back to Harry Kane’s first loan.
Not every talented youth prospect pans out and Scarlett certainly did not, though he should have a very nice professional football career in the lower leagues. And who knows, he might make it back up to Premier League someday with a promoted club. I hope he does well.
