That makes two straight losses for the Kansas City Chiefs after their bye week: after a 5-0 start, the Chiefs are now 5-2 after a 28-24 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 8. Kansas City blew an 11-point fourth-quarter lead in the defeat.
After the game, the Arrowhead Pride community was asked who deserves the most blame for the collapse from a 24-13 lead in the fourth quarter. Here were the most rec’d comments from the post on The Feed:

Reid is at the top of my sh— list, just some terrible play calls
and game management. The fact that we seem to no longer have any toss, counters, sweeps, or zone stretch plays for K9 in our playbook anymore just baffles me. You’re telling me when we were inside the 5 that if we got K9 in space one-on-one with a defender, he wouldn’t have gotten in the end zone??? Definitely feels like Reid’s last years in Philly right now.

The brain trust behind the team’s refusal to try a QB sneak with Fields.

I’m a big Reid fan, and I certainly don’t think he should be fired, but I think this one has to be on him for several calls (Butker FG try) and for several he didn’t call (why not ask for a play clock reset when the refs moved the ball from 2 yds to 6 inches).
Honorable mention goes to the refs.

Not enough info to tell
Mahomes lets the clock keep running after down by contact which burned off 20 seconds
Moore – shocker – can’t do that on the goal line
Special teams other than Johnson were another unmitigated disaster before bringing up trying a mid-50-yard FG from a guy who hasn’t made one from that distance since last season
Andy and the whole operation for not noticing THE BALL was spotted at 4th and inches, not challenging and only complaining after the punt
The defense had how many sacks?
True team effort. Didn’t look prepared, didn’t execute, too many unforced errors
The world’s best center can’t snap the ball straight
All of them. Every damn one.

Reid! Terrible situational play calls.

Mahomes losing 6 yards (and not throwing it away), thus making a 48 yard field a 54 yarder was BRUTAL! I can’t fault Butker for missing from that far in the rain.
Kelce dropping multiple catches that hit him right in the hands didn’t help.
Chris Jones occupying so much of our cap space and just being okay is rough.
Our stars are getting paid a lot to not be very starry.

Reid and Toub. There was no reason to have Butker try a kick in those conditions. That should have been a punt.
Chiefs fans on X were also asked for their biggest takeaways from the loss. Here were some of the top comments:

They could hold tryouts in the KC Metro and find a dude off the street that’s a better field goal kicker than Butker.
The dude is so washed it’s unbelievable.

That one is on Andy
Carson Wendt @Carsonwendt2
This all started when Andy refused to go for it on 4th and inches.

Andy must give up the play calling sheet. He is getting away from under center far too often. Also, punting on 4th and inches was cowardly and calling a pass play on 3rd and 2 when Walker was running it down their throats where Mahomes took the sack is unforgivable. Also… Fire Toub.

That loss is squarely on Andy. Horrible coaching in the fourth quarter.

Andy Reid lost this game on quite a few occasions.
There’s a common theme in the most liked and rec’d comments from Chiefs fans last night: head coach Andy Reid and the coaching staff as a whole mismanaged the late lead on the road. The collapse matters more because of the stakes in the AFC West race.
The question from here: will that be a recurring theme against contenders, or a blip on the radar against a Broncos team that seems to magically pull these fourth-quarter comebacks out constantly, especially in Denver?
