Milwaukee finally picked up their ninetieth win yesterday against the St. Louis Cardinals. With fourteen games left in the regular season, the Brewers hold a six-game lead in the NL Central. They can officially clinch a playoff berth with a win tonight or a loss from the Giants or Mets.
Brandon Woodruff was originally scheduled to start tonight’s game, but his start has been pushed back to Wednesday. Woody isn’t dealing with an injury, the Brewers just want to keep him “fresh for October.”
Per Rosiak, and the Brewers’ lineup card, Jacob Misiorowski will get the start in Woodruff’s stead. The lanky right-hander has had a rookie season filled with impressive highs, but he has also shown a tendency to let the occasional inning snowball. For the season, Miz has a 4.09 ERA (3.12 FIP) and 77 strikeouts in just 55 innings. On the mound for St. Louis will be Sonny Gray, who has a 3.64 ERA over 18 career starts against Milwaukee and a 4.45 ERA this year.
Today’s lineup is the exact same as yesterday’s lineup, which means that Christian Yelich is hitting fifth again. Yelich homered last night, which also happened to be the first time he’s hit lower than cleanup since 2023 and the fourth time since becoming a Brewer. Sal Frelick is leading off tonight, followed by Jackson Chourio, Brice Turang, and William Contreras. Isaac Collins (in left), Jake Bauers (at first), Caleb Durbin, and Joey Ortiz round out the lineup.
Tonight’s game will be nationally televised on Fox and broadcast, as always, via radio on the Brewers Radio Network. First pitch is slated for 7:15 CT.
