Former Real Madrid Fabrica director Abian Perdomo spoke in a lengthy interview with AS recently about multiple stories around La Fabrica and Castilla players. He was asked about loanees and players sold
with a buy-back clause, to which he said: “One I really find incredible is Alex Jimenez, at Bournemouth. He has the potential to be Real Madrid’s future right-back. Jacobo can also have a spot here, for sure.”
Perdomo on Nico Paz
He’s definitely ready to return, but his role as a key player will depend on the trust he’ll be given. I only fear that if he returns, he won’t get enough playing time, and we’ll lose a tremendous talent.”
Perdomo on the most improved player at Castilla due to hard work
“I’ll say Nico Paz. He wasn’t a star when he came, but little by little, in silence, he kept working and getting better, until he became an incredible footballer.”
Perdomo on the most talented player at Valdebebas
“Jesé Rodriguez. He was incredibly gifted. You’d see the things he was doing, and you’d be blown away.”
Perdomo on talented players who did not make the jump
“Some players at La Fabrica had incredible talent, but they lacked that little push they needed to really take the next step, they needed that trust. An example? Sergio Arribas, some first-team players used to ask us to let him train with them. He was so good.”
Perdomo on Jacobo Ramon and Chema Andres
“Jacobo Ramon and Chema Andres are some of my favorites. Jacobo has the profile of a world-class ball-playing centre-back, and Chema understands the game to a very high level, and he’s also incredible physically. They’ll both go very far.”
Perdomo on the Fabrica player with the most potential to make the first team
“César Palacios. He’s special. There are other names, like Joan, Yanez, Lemaitre, Enzo Alves, Hugo, Bugarin, Andrei, but the closest is Cesar Palacios.”
Perdomo on whether La Fabrica is as good as La Masia
“Of course, and I’d even say La Fabrica is better. The only difference is that Barcelona have given more chances to their talents, due to their situation.”
