The Wisconsin Badgers are facing an unexpected situation heading into the 2025 season, as they still don’t know whether starting cornerback Nyzier Fourqurean will be able to play this year.
Fourqurean had initially gotten an injunction in his eligibility case that would’ve allowed him to play this upcoming season, prompting him to forego the draft and return to school for another year.
However, the NCAA won an appeal against Fourqurean, overturning the injunction and rendering him ineligible to play,
leaving the cornerback in an unfavorable position. The cornerback had looked to argue his case once more, with a court date set for October.
But, he is making one last push to try and retain his eligibility earlier than that, filing an injunction with additional supporting evidence, which was the reason his initial injunction was overturned.
A part of that evidence is a signed declaration from head coach Luke Fickell, as well as his NIL agreement.
Currently, a court date for Fourqurean is set for October 20th. So, if the current ruling stands, he would not be eligible to return until at least Week 9, missing significant time during the season.
Fourqurean has been a part of Wisconsin’s Fall camp, rotating in with the starters as cornerbacks coach Paul Haynes sees fit. But, Wisconsin will have to figure out their situation without him if the current situation stands, which likely means more reps for redshirt freshman Omillio Agard and Miami transfer D’Yoni Hill opposite Ricardo Hallman.
