Gnabry’s camp met with Bayern last week (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl)
Bayern Munich sure sounds like it wants to retain Serge Gnabry, whose contract runs out after this season. Last week, Gnabry’s camp met with Bayern Munich officials as the two sides seek to reach an accord:
A meeting took place last week between Bayern officials and representatives from Serge Gnabry’s agency ROOF. The player’s future and a potential pay cut were discussed. Gnabry feels comfortable at the club and can well imagine extending his contract. A renewal is the likely outcome.
It is very clear
that both sides want this deal to get done. The only obstacle is the cost of a contract. How much of a hit does Gnabry want to take from his 23 million total package (salary + bonus)? You have to assume that any deal would include a cut of at least 8 million from that total package. It remains to be seen if Gnabry would be receptive to giving Bayern Munich a “hometown discount” to stay with a club that he loves.
Even at 30-years-old (31 by the start of next season), Gnabry will have a market for his services if he wants to explore it.
Neuer continues to say he’s not focused on World Cup (Bundesliga via @iMiaSanMia)
Manuel Neuer keeps getting asked about the World Cup and he keeps offering the same consistent response — he’s not interested at this point:
Last question, there are many voices calling for you to make a comeback to the national team in the same way Toni Kroos did in 2022. Could that still happen under certain circumstances? Manuel Neuer – World Cup 2026?
Neuer: “I don’t know. As things stand, my position hasn’t changed and the most important thing for me is that I concentrate on my club rather than having the World Cup in the back of my mind. I have an important task at hand and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season with Bayern because we have everything in our own hands and there’s a lot we can achieve.”
Füllkrug and Wolfsburg could be getting close (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
The rumors pointing West Ham striker Niclas Füllkrug toward Wolfsburg are getting louder, but the Hammers still think the German striker will go to Italy:
🚨🐺 Talks between Niclas #Füllkrug, his management, and VfL Wolfsburg are ongoing.
A winter move to Wolfsburg is possible, with the club planning a loan.
However, West Ham expect a transfer to Italy. #WHUFC are still pushing for a permanent winter move, at least a loan that includes a realistic obligation to buy.
Bayern balking on Baleba move (CaughtOffside)
Things could be getting complicated with Bayern Munich’s attempt to get Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba:
The transfer saga surrounding Carlos Baleba is set to intensify in the months ahead, with Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly ready to consider offers of around €85 million in 2026 for their highly rated midfielder.
According to Sky Sport, that staggering price tag has caused hesitation at Bayern Munich, where internal debate continues over whether the 21-year-old Cameroonian is worth such a major investment.
Despite Bayern’s long-standing admiration for Baleba, sources close to the player suggest that his personal preference lies firmly with Manchester United, a factor that could shape the direction of the negotiations over the next transfer window.
As Bayern hesitate and United assess their summer priorities, the player’s camp remains hopeful that a move to Man United will materialise.
Bayern Munich is being smart with its acquisitions and its price threshold. Unless Baleba is someone who Bayern Munich feels is a must-have, it would not be shocking to seethe Bavarians walk away if the price gets too high.
Göttlicher to Augsburg? (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
FC Augsburg is reportedly eyeing Bayern Munich’s 17-ear-old midfielder Moritz Göttlicher:
🚨👀 Excl | Moritz #Göttlicher is a candidate for FC Augsburg for the coming summer. There have already been talks, and he was also spotted in the stadium recently.
Mainz, several German second-division clubs and sides from abroad are also interested in the 17 y/o midfield talent from Bayern’s U19. Göttlicher’s contract is expiring. Bayern open to extend it.
Göttlicher has five goals and two assists in 11 games across all competitions this season.
Hamann thinks Woltemade will get better from EPL experience (Chronicle Live)
Didi Hamann is pretty sure that Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade made the right move in going to England and thinks the big striker will get better in the long run for it.
“Does Nick Woltemade have an even bigger ceiling at Newcastle? I think he does,” Hamann told CoinPoker. “He’s playing against the best players, best defenders now, and he stands his ground. For any team, sometimes when you want to mix it up towards the end of the game, to bring him on for the last 20, 25 minutes, he’ll cause carnage. So, you know, I think the sky’s the limit for him.
“Sometimes you only find out when you make that step. In a way probably helped him because Newcastle is probably the better fit now than Bayern Munich even though Bayern Munich are playing really well but he wouldn’t have played because Harry Kane is there and he’s scoring every week.
“You only find out how good these players are when you play at that level when you test them and you know he’s been tested now for three or four months he passed the test. I think anything is possible for him.”
