Bayern Munich have officially begun the 2025/26 season. The first game of the season was the DFL-Supercup, now renamed the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup in honour of der Kaiser and his contributions to German football. After two years of missing out on the Supercup, the Bavarians reclaimed their title, and rightfully so with a convincing 2-1 win against reigning DFB Pokal champions VfB Stuttgart.
Captain Manuel Neuer expressed his joy in having won a trophy first thing in the season. Per FCBayern.com,
he iterated that titles would always be important at Bayern. “It’s a title! That’s obviously very important for us,” he exclaimed.
Further speaking on the Bavarian performance, he pointed out the highs and lows. “You didn’t sense any tiredness with us. We could’ve been cleverer at the end, but we’re happy. I want to help the team and enjoy success. We did that today. Stuttgart are a tough team to play against. They did well, but we deserved to win,” he emphasized.
“We were always the better team in our pre-season games. We want to take that into the league,” the captain declared.
Certainly, if he keeps performing like he did today, the Bavarians have absolutely nothing to worry about.
